After many requests from you lovelies on my Instagram, I am finally coming through on a makeup tutorial! Yay! Of course once I sat down to take the time to do it…. I recorded the whole dang thing, only to realize that I didn’t even push record. Not Kidding…I thought I did… but apparently my finger didn’t hit the button. That is such a Maria thing to do…talk about epic fail after FINALLY sitting down to do this video.
Anyway…. I re-shot it and finally uploaded the tutorial to my Instagam TV! Yay! This will be the first of many. I’m starting with a super natural version but in the future will also show tutorials for glam looks, really light makeup for model castings, TV makeup, and hair tutorials. You can watch this tutorial on my Instagram as well as below where I walk you through all the steps and tricks!
This may seem like a lot to buy, but I promise these brushes and products are mostly used, just in different ways, for all different versions of my makeup looks. They really are awesome and versatile. I’m linking all of the products (brushes and makeup) for this look below!
First off, good makeup starts with great skin. I have a whole post with my daily skincare routine here.
Foundation sponge with foundation brush : or if you rather just have the sponge…. click here. It comes with 2 to make sure you always use a clean one to prevent breakouts!
Smashbox Foundation : I wear the shade called 2.22 and I have found this foundation to be the best option for not sinking into creases yet lasting all day. It also is perfect for photo shoots and film work.
Under eye concealer : I wear this in NW 20 - but obviously that can be different for each person. Just make sure it’s a few tones lighter to brighten your under eyes. Try to also pay attention to the undertones - yellow or pink can make a big difference in making it match you skin.
Blush, powder/setting brush, and highlighter brush kit: Blending and setting your foundation so that it doesn’t crease is so important. These make doing that easy while controlling shine!
Park Ave Princess Bronzer: This one has a bit of a shimmer to it, but not too much! I love it for natural looks because it just looks like you’re glowing!
Highlighter: If you’re looking for one awesome palette to combine blush, highlighter, and bronzer all in one, click here. But when I’m on the go, I often use a this mini version which has bronzer and highlighter in it that’s small enough to toss into my purse.
Blush: If you prefer separate items instead of one large palette like above, here ya go! I like these in all shades, but one of my favorite is called “Blissful” but you really can’t go wrong with any! I just personally prefer the non shimmery ones for everyday/natural makeup…especially if you’re using the shimmery bronzer above.
Eye Shadow brush set: This is SUPER important since eye shadow technique is really ALL in the brush you use! EVERYONE needs a dome brush for blending in the crease. This is a game changer….
Eye shadow : Amazonian clay based! I use this same palette for every day makeup, natural makeup for castings, and even when I bump it up to TV / Glam makeup! I also use the black in this palette for my eyeliner which I’ll show you how in the video. However, I’ve also linked another one of my favorite eye shadow palettes also by Tarte (duh) that is their Pro Palette here, if you like more color options for a bigger palette.
Eye lashes/Mascara: I keep my lashes done with the shortest and most natural lash extensions by Hourglass Lash and Skin Spa in Chevy Chase in Lexington. However, I do still like to use a touch of this mascara on my bottom lashes. This mascara is super affordable and doesn’t ever bleed onto my skin, despite how my bottom lashes are relatively long. However, if you have trouble with bleeding, just go with the waterproof version of this mascara.
Lips: For the natural look I love simply using Sugar lip therapy or Burt’s Bees. However, if you want a little color, you can’t go wrong by using my favorite liner by Mac. Just make sure you blend it in well so it doesn’t look like you’ve got chocolate around your mouth… because if you have that you might as well actually be eating chocolate. I love to then add my favorite gloss on top that also plumps.
Ok! So yay! There ya have it! Stay tuned for more makeup tutorials! Please, please, please comment below if you have questions or any specific tutorial you want to see because I LOVE answering and helping y’all!
